About Us

Stuart M. Miller, CFP®, ChFC®, CLU®

Principal

Stu graduated from Carnegie Mellon with a BS in business and spent three years at the Graduate School for Public and International Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh working on a Ph.D. in public finance.

Stu and his wife of 47 years, Linda, have two sons, two daughters-in-law, and five grandchildren. One family lives in Mt. Lebanon and one in Ossining, New York. Stu and Linda agree that the two seminal events in the Miller family was raising their children on Wellesley Road in Highland Park and spending 15 consecutive summers attending the Deer Valley YMCA camp. They have spent the past 30 years in Fox Chapel and now also own a condo in Naples, Florida.

Stu has many hobbies, including tennis, reading, and adult studies in history, cultural development, and in particular as related to Jewish history and development. Stu often quips that his primary hobby is “board member.” He has had extensive participation in not-for-profit boards and in most cases as an officer. Currently, he is the chairman emeritus of the Board of East End Cooperative Ministry. He is the past president of the Pittsburgh Public Theater and has been on the board of the Cultural Trust, the Pittsburgh Opera, Family Services of Western Pennsylvania, Temple Sinai, and the Fox Chapel Racquet Club.

He started his financial services career 43 years ago specializing in planning for closely held business, including succession planning, estate planning, and fringe benefit planning. In 1992, he joined a regional financial advisory firm and became a senior stockholder. In 2003, he was instrumental in spinning out the high-net-worth practice of that firm and created a new firm specializing in counseling high-net-worth individuals.  MillerMcCurry is a further specialization. (See the Philosophy tab.) He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM (CFP®) professional and holds the Chartered Life Underwriter® (CLU®) and Chartered Financial Consultant® (ChFC®) designations.

Daniel P. McCurry, CFP®

Principal

Dan graduated from John Carroll University in University Heights, Ohio, with a B.S.B.A. in accounting, where he also completed his Masters in Business Administration graduate degree.

A native of Pittsburgh, Dan grew up in Gibsonia, the son of a kindergarten teacher and a high-school principal/football coach. He, and his wife Liz, now reside in Valencia, with their two young daughters. Convincing Liz to marry him was a feat in and of itself, but getting her to leave her South Hills roots and build their family in the North Hills of Pittsburgh was an even bigger accomplishment.

Outside of work, Dan enjoys watching college football, playing hockey, and working in his yard in the spring and summer.  Before the arrival of his daughters, Dan spent seven years coaching 12-year-old youth football players for the North Hills Youth Football Association, with his father at his side for three of them.  His pride and joy though, is spending the vast majority of his free time with his daughters and family.

Dan is currently a member of the Pittsburgh Foundation’s Young Professional board.  Previously,  he served on the board of directors for the Crisis Center North and has been involved with Big Brothers and Big Sisters as a mentor.

Dan began his financial services career 18 years ago in Shaker Heights, Ohio, as an associate at a multi-family office serving the needs of ultra-high-net-worth families.  His focus was on cash flow and tax planning, as well as tax preparation for both entities and individuals. In 2005, Dan returned to Pittsburgh to work at a regional financial advisory firm, where he would spend the next 15 years. In his role, he worked closely with Stuart Miller in all facets of financial planning and investment management and developed a friendship and bond that led to the founding of Miller McCurry.  Dan is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM (CFP®) professional.

Jesse L. Taylor, CFP®

Financial Advisor

Jesse grew up in Pittsburgh but moved to the northeast for college. He graduated from the University of Vermont with a BS in Community Development and Applied Economics in 2007. While at school, Jesse joined a non-profit, Recycle North, and was hired full time upon completing his degree. The organization specialized in providing construction and household goods to those in need. It was there where Jesse first felt the satisfaction of providing service that helped people improve their lives.

In 2008, on a trip to visit family in Pittsburgh, Jesse serendipitously met Alexa - a nursing student and his future wife - in the special services line at Philadelphia International Airport when they were both stranded the day before Christmas. Jesse and Alexa married in 2014 and moved shortly thereafter into a 126-year-old Victorian style home in Crafton. Their family expanded in January, 2019, with the birth of their daughter, Eliana, and then again in July of 2021 with the birth of their son Louis. Jesse has many hobbies and not enough time to pursue them. He especially enjoys playing, instructing, and officiating ice hockey. Another passion of his is working on and racing Audi’s and BMW’s. Lastly, he is an active member at Chartier’s Country Club and loves to golf!

Professionally, Jesse started with BNY Mellon 14 years ago, and worked in multiple asset management and servicing departments during his 5-year tenure. He left BNY Mellon for an opportunity to join a private wealth firm in which he built a solid knowledge base in investment operations, administration, compliance, and the workings of US and global financial markets.  He also studied for and obtained his securities licenses. After two years there, he joined one of the largest mutual Insurance companies in the United States to learn the insurance market and get the opportunity to start and manage his own practice. He was responsible for all facets of the business: operations, compliance, product knowledge, sales, and client service.  He realized as he was building his practice that his clients would benefit from having an advisor with broad financial planning expertise.  Jesse subsequently earned his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM (CFP®) professional certification in 2016.

In his practice, Jesse came to fully realize that his favorite thing about his business was connecting with people, listening, learning about their objectives, financial and otherwise, and helping them and their families put in place solid and prudent financial plans that would help them meet their goals. As a financial advisor at Miller McCurry, Jesse is excited to develop many new client relationships and friendships, and continue to help people achieve the futures they envision for themselves.
